Young boy with broom helps pregnant mom fight off sexual assault

A boy helped his pregnant mother fight off a sexual assault in Mascotte Sunday evening, using a broom to swat a man who had straddled her and tried to rip open her shirt, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Police said Minchey walked into the home uninvited, grabbed the woman from behind and declared, “I want some.” The boy heard his mother struggling in an adjacent room and found her fighting with Minchey on the floor. The boy, who deputies said may have been as young as 3 years old, picked up a broom and hit the man, police said. Minchey pushed the boy into an entertainment center and the woman threatened to call 911, prompting Minchey to leave and go home, according to ClickOrlando.com. The woman kneed Minchey in the groin before the boy smacked him with the broom. The alleged attacker then fled

the family’s home, but police tracked him to his nearby residence, arresting him on charges of burglary, aggravated battery, attempted rape and child abuse – for shoving the boy. The relationship between the two is not clear, but the woman told police she ordinarily does not allow Minchey into her home if her boyfriend is not present, but she was busy with her children and he walked in, according to ClickOrlando.com. Approached by Mascotte police at his home, the alleged attacker, Michael Minchey, 55, called the victim a “crack whore” and liar – before the police officers told him what allegations they were investigating.
