Where does Ronnie Brown rate among NFL running backs?

This off-season, Ronnie Brown said he believes he’s an elite NFL running back. Looks like future Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk isn’t so sure. Speaking on the NFL Total Access on Monday, Faulk helped stir up the debate on Ronnie Brown’s place among NFL backs when Faulk left Brown off his top-5 list . In fact, Brown essentially didn’t crack Faulk’s top-8 because his top-5 featured six backs on it, and he discussed leaving St. Louis’ Steven Jackson and Washington’s Clinton Portis off the list. Here it is: 1. Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson, 2. Carolina’s DeAngelo Williams; 3. Atlanta’s Michael Turner; 4. San Diego’s LaDanian Tomlinson; 5 (tie). Bowl last year, but might have done so because of his high-profile role the Wildcat as much as anything. Averaging just 13.4 carries while sharing the ball with Ricky Williams, Brown rushed for 50 yards or fewer nine times. A terrific receiver, Brown averaged just two catches. Brown, who is in the final year of his contract, will have plenty of chances to showcase his game this season, especially if Williams plays more of a complementary role. The Dolphins play four prime-time games and will face four of the backs on Faulk’s list … Jones-Drew, Tomlinson, Turner and Williams. By the end of the season, Brown’s place among NFL backs should be more evident.
