On May 28th, the Miami-Dade County Commissioners will be asked by FPL to approve a hazardous rock-mining project. We are very concerned that this project will reduce agricultural land, threaten water quality and have a negative effect on our Everglades Restoration efforts.

Clean Water Action has been working with local allies to stop FPL from establishing a new mining operation because of its close proximity to Biscayne Bay and National Park and current concerns of saltwater intrusion into South Florida’s drinking water supply.

FPL’s application leads us to believe that rock pits will have “restoration benefits” but they do not provide the science supporting this claim. Don’t let FPL disguise rock mines as being beneficial to our community – it is a threat to our water supply.

Join us on May 28th to tell your County Commissioner not to further jeopardize our water supply!

Check out this link to protect Florida’s water supply and stop FPL’s rock mine. We need your help!
