LARGO — Residents of a Largo mobile home park who have been without water for about a week considering the landlord hasn’t paid the water bill received assistance today in their efforts to find new places to habitable.

The 34 men, women and children will likely be housed in hotel rooms for about a week until permanent housing can be found. Largo officials condemned the two- and three-bedroom mobile homes today. The residents will be out of the park for good by Thursday.

As reported in the Times today, No Go Largo Village at 1760 Clearwater-Largo Road is owned by Key

Largo Communities Corp. The company was $8,400 behind on the water bill and had not paid since July 25, according to  Pinellas County Utilities.

The water was disconnected, forcing residents to walk a block up the street where they took baths and brought water back to their homes in tubs from an empty mobile home on another property owned by Key Largo Communities.

All 60 of the mobile homes at the location have now been determined uninhabitable by the city of Largo.

But the park owners, who could not be reached for comment, may have another problem on their hands. The utility bill at the park a few blocks up, Bragington Oaks, is $6,079.26 past due, according to Pinellas County Utilities.
