Softball, hockey, volleyball…and alligator wrestling? It seems an alligator wrestling group is trying to make it a legitimate sport. They even established the Freestyle Alligator Wrestling Competitions, taking place at the Seminole Okalee Indian Village at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood this weekend, reports the Miami Herald . Wrestlers will be judged on aggressiveness of the gator, difficulty of the move, style, appearance, showmanship and water wrangling. And there’s money to be won: the winning wrestler will wade away with $5,000 and bragging rights. Professional alligator

wrestler James Holt promoted the event by facing off with an eight-foot-long alligator. “The hardest part is making sure you’re in the right frame of mind,” Holt told the Miami Herald. “You gotta be in the moment.” Jimmy Riffle, 24, of Fort Lauderdale, told the Miami Herald he plans to compete. “You cannot be afraid to be bit,” he said.
