Typhoon Krosa After All Moves Ashore In Taiwan

Major Typhoon Krosa took a direct hit on northern Taiwan in the last 12 hours, after several large wobbles there towards the end making it look like Krosa might actually track just to the north of the island. That was not the case as the Typhoon wobbled back westward and made landfall on the northeastern coast of Taiwan near Ilan coast and Toucheng. Much of northern Taiwan is experiencing Typhoon winds and deadly flash flooding. The eastern and northern coast are likely dealing with very large waves and storm surge.

Storm Chasing Typhoon Krosa In Taiwan

Storm Chaser reports are slow to come out of Taipei, but there are several Typhoon Trackers on the ground in the direct landfall location of Krosa. If I see any new reports with pictures and / or video, I’ll post some updates. I’m sure it will take a little longer for reports to start filtering out of the affected area’s. At least some Chaser’s are getting some true tropical cyclone core punching in around the world.

Recorded 104mph from the car standing just North of the eye in a small fishing hamlet I can not pronounce. A serious lack of data meant that we did not penetrate the eye and gave up. However Shock news - the eye never made it fully on land and is now back out to sea after turning South East- we are getting ready to chase it again whether it makes landfall second time - don’t belive me - look at the Krosa radar loop. Atlantic Tropical Scene

Another disappointing hurricane season for Hurricane Chasers in the Atlantic basin. I have spent more time blogging about Typhoon intercepts than Hurricane Chase intercept this season. Hurricane Dean Chase with Jim Edds coverage was the only real interesting chase in the western Hemisphere that I covered this hurricane season. Time is running out for us United States Hurricane Chaser to intercept a US land falling storm.
