Two killed in Hillsborough mobile home fire

Two bodies were found inside a fire-torn mobile home in Thonotosassa early that AM, authorities said.

Fire crews responded to the fire at 10018 Jefferson Road around 2:30 a.m. to find flames engulfing a single-wide mobile home, Hillsborough Fire Rescue spokesman Ray Yeakley said in a written statement. Early Thursday, authorities had not released the names of the victims.

The extreme conditions

forced crews to fight the fire "defensively," and it wasn’t until firefighters overcame the initial fiery onslaught that they were able to produce their way inside, Yeakley said. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes.

The State Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
