Tropical Systems Fight Shear, Florida Beach Erosion
Tropical Systems Fighting The Shear and Loosing
Well there is little to talk about in the tropics this morning as most the tropical activity is well out over the center and eastern Atlantic, fighting unusual strong wind shear for this time of year. Tropical Storm Karen was down graded to a Depression as she continues to become very disorganized. The wind shear is winning the battle and it’s possible she might not last another 24hours. It’s not even worth getting into the models right now until we see Karen try and re-strengthen.
Then there Tropical Storm Melissa in the far eastern Atlantic also dealing with some dry air and wind shear. The wind shear, which increases normally for the eastern Atlantic this time year, will likely tear Melissa apart in the coming days and yet another Tropical Storm will be destroyed by a hostile environment, and seems to be the trend this season.
Florida Strong Winds, Large Surf
A strong wind pressure gradient will be setting up over Florida starting later today and lasting through Tuesday. There will likely be a lot of beach erosion, especially along Florida east-central beaches, like in St Lucie and Martin counties. Some of these beaches already have severe beach erosion issues and this will only added to them. I’ll be keeping and eye on the tides and surf on Sunday and will do some video coverage for the blog and some TV networks.
