As D.C. Goutoufas sets up for business on Tuesday morning, his mind is on cleaning up and helping Tampa police catch the men that burglarized his cigar shop. “They cut through a wiring system that was a keyless entry pad as well as an alarm system,” TPD spokesperson Andrea Davis said. Two burglars broke into Gaspar’s Cigar Shoppe in South Tampa Friday night, police said. They broke through drywall and busted up doors. “It’s definitely very odd that they knew where the office space was,” Davis said. “Obviously that was a door but what was on the other side of the office space.” Surveillance cameras show the men stealing several bottles of liquor and a flat screen TV. The thieves also broke into several private lockers taking personal items from customers. “It’s more than just the bar owner or cigar shop owner,

it’s the individuals that rented those boxes that are obviously storing expensive cigars there,” Davis said. Goutoufas says he’s owned the shop for two years and he’s frustrated watching the tape of the men stealing from him and his customers it’s frustrating. He’s just hoping the public takes a good look at the video as well. “This is something where everyone’s reaction is kind of like why is someone breaking into a cigar shop but anything that is of value to a criminal, especially those expensive cigars, the TV and expensive bottles of liquor,” Davis said. Police believe the criminals may try to sell some of the stolen items, which may in turn help lead to some arrests. If you have any information about the theft, call the Tampa Police Department.
