A group called the Taxpayer Action Board gathers Thursday to dissect Palm Beach County’s budget. The organization has support from the South Florida 9-12 group, which is similar to the tea party movement, and from the South Florida Tea Party. And it’s getting some attention from politicians. Ed Fulop, a South Florida 912 leader, said commissioners Jess Santamaria and Shelley Vana have confirmed their attendance at Thursday’s event. Here’s part of what the Taxpayer Action Board says on its website: “We are a grassroots coalition of local business organizations, civic groups, and self-appointed “Government Watchdogs”, dedicated to the task of bringing fiscal responsibility to county and municipal governments. “We are

assembling a team of experts to evaluate the county budget, county organization, and working relationships of the staff and Constitutional Officers, with the intention of educating the public at large as to WHERE THEIR MONEY IS BEING SPENT. Through staff requests, interviews with Commissioners and staff, and other means, we intend to influence the budget process and by extension, the millage rate, by bringing to the public the most glaring examples of inappropriate spending.” The meeting is at the County Library, 4020 Lantana Rd., Lake Worth. It starts at 6:30 p.m.
