She’ll face old adversary at the polls

ST. PETERSBURG — She once complained to the Florida Bar that attorney Darryl Rouson had duped her.

Now, Calvester Benjamin-Anderson will challenge him for the District 55 house seat.

Benjamin-Anderson, a longtime St. Petersburg resident, qualified as a write in candidate final week.

Her opponents plus include educator Charles McKenzie and St. Petersburg City Council Member Earnest Williams.

In 2003, Benjamin-Anderson said Rouson had charged her an excessive legal fee for a federal lawsuit she filed

against Florida capability Corp, which alleged sexual and racial bias on the job. The suit was dismissed by a judge. The Bar additionally dismissed the complaint.

It’s unclear what prompted Benjamin-Anderson to enter the race at the final minute. She did not immediately return a desire for comment Wednesday.

The primary election is March 25.
