Seniors get emotional sendoff

Florida closed out its final practice of the 2007 season with its traditional senior tackle ritual.

At the conclusion of Sunday’s practice, each senior, his position coach and a teammate closest to him, gave a short speech about what it’s meant to be a part of the Gators’ team and what that player has meant to those around him.

The ritual was started when Meyer arrived three years ago, and has become a

favorite among the players.

Meyer said Sunday, as always, the ceremony was very emotional.

” It’s always a tough thing, particularly whether they are really invested guys,” Meyer said. “And we obviously have some.”

Meyer said all the seniors were good that year, and admitted there were some tears shed.

“Of course there were,” he said with a smile. “It???s all private though.”
