Senate OK’s separate USF Lakeland campus

The Senate just unanimously approved a bill (SB 186) to compose USF’s fledgling campus in Lakeland, dubbed USF Polytechnic, a separately accredited regional campus.

The setup would be similar to USF’s St. Petersburg campus. Meanwhile, USF officials and some lawmakers are pushing for $15-million in

state money in next year’s budget to start interpretation of a new $200-million campus they say will hold 16,000 students by 2043.
