School bus driver encourages kids to fight

Bus drivers are supposed to stop fights. Not encourage them. So Andre Caldwell, a Palm Beach County school bus driver, is in trouble, having been accused of inciting a fight between two groups of students on his bus. Then, to make matters worse, he covered the on-board video camera with a hat so the attack couldn’t be recorded, reports sunsentinel.com The background: Two boys, 11 and 12, were attacked by three other students on the bus. The two boys had gotten into a name-calling and spitting fight with another student the day before. Caldwell turned off the bus and said the two boys “were wrong for what they did the day before” and if other students “try to fight you, I’m going to

let them,” witnesses said. The victims were struck at least five times before Caldwell stopped the attack, according to one witness account. Another witness said the driver allowed the fight to continue until one of the boys was bleeding. One of the victims required three staples to his head to close the laceration to his scalp, police said. He also had a swollen nose and forehead. The other boy had a swollen face and jaw.
