Sansom defends college gig; ‘I’m qualified’

"I’m qualified for that job. I’m well qualified," House Speaker Ray Sansom told reporters minutes ago, responding to questions about his new job at Northwest Florida State College.

Sansom, who has a master’s degree in education, famous that his $110,000 salary will not come from state funds. He said he will file a disclosure mold but does not foresee having to abstain from votes on higher education considering they will not directly benefit him.

"I’m very excited about the opportunity,"

Sansom said during a break at the WaterColor retreat. "I term out in two years and I want to manufacture my permanent home there at the college. I love northwest Florida. I think northwest Florida is at the beginning point of some great success when it comes to profitable development. … No doubt, being involved in education and profitable development, a trained workforce is the key to the success of a region."
