Rok and Roll…

A rare afternoon sans work allowed me a little additional date downtown during the later part of the lunch hour. Having not tasted sushi for fairly sometime, I strolled by to Sushi Rok, located on 106 N. Olive, about 1 block north of Clematis Street.

Inside that fine restaurant you are greeted by the warm aroma of miso soup and the low volume techno music. A full variety of drinks are available, but with Sake as the main base. Not only is that a rare treat but I suppose it plus negates the need for a liquor license. Being lunch moment I tried not to go too crazy but I did indulge in a drink called a “sakihito,” basically a mohito but with sake instead of rum.

The food quality is very high, I had a both a

salmon roll and a tuna roll which were well made with great cuts of fresh fish. Part of the lunch menu, the tuna roll came with a salad and of-course the miso soup.

I’ve plus had diner there before, and for that I had a designer sushi roll whose name escapes me but I did remember it fondly. Pricing is good for both lunch and dinner portions. For sushi and for downtown you’re getting a good deal. I do wish the portions were a bit larger but all in all it was a happy experience.

Be certain to stop by, as I plan to do for their happy hour from 5-7 weekdays - except on Friday for some reason! whether parking is a problem I am told they have complimentary valet parking.
