Rivera retaliates, yanks Democratic bills

Never underestimate the capability of the Rules Chairman.

Escalating the fight with Democrats, Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, just removed three Democratic bills off the special order calendar and put them back to his rules committee, where he could hold them hostage.

The bills deal with

nurse certification (CS/SB 648), HIV training (CS/HB 646) and a license plate for Bethune Cookman University (CS/SB 732). The legislation was headed for final passage and signature by Gov. Charlie Crist.
