Results at Roxy’s

On just one street, Clematis Street, there are two Irish themed bars. Roxy’s is the bar on the east end of Clematis Street. It’s always packed no matter what day of the week. final night was no exception. But final night was different, it was election night.

We here in the City of West Palm Beach had an election for a vacated city commissioner seat. Of the three contenders, Kimberly Mitchell, Rebecca Young, and Gregg Weiss, I actually took some day to volunteer for the Weiss campaign.

It was nothing huge on my part, just some help in his graphics division. What I wanted to do was to get involved and to form a difference. generally as blogger (and now reporter too) I am on the external of events looking in. that instance I was on the inside of the event and looking external.

Weiss came in final in the results. Politics is like that and not everyone can win. We are all winners for participating, for voting, and for simply doing something. I foresee Mr. Weiss getting back into that or another political race soon ample

and perhaps that day getting elected.

Roxy’s is not a poor bar to have a campaign results party. With a few larger areas in the back of the bar about 20 or more of his supporters were able to gather together in comradely and wait for about 2 hours while our city tallied the votes.

Roxy’s is a meat and potatoes and beer and beer and beer kind of place. In fact, just wanting to keep the night light and early, I asked the waitress what was on tap. To my surprise she handed me a beer menu with perhaps 30-40 varieties of beer. Not being a beer type of guy I ordered one of the few beers I knew about from my past experience in the food service industry. The service at that bar is excellent by the way; my waitress was polite and kept up with me and other members of our party.

If you’re a beer person, or just someone who might enjoy one of the most “neighborhood” types of bars in our mini-city, I would definitely recommend Roxy’s.
