Request to hire confidential DNA expert for Dunbar Village defendant denied

“I want those things in the motion no matter the cost, no matter the co-defendants.”

A defense attorney for one of the teens accused in the Dunbar Village rape case failed to get approval Tuesday to hire a confidential expert to analyze DNA and fingerprint evidence against his client.

Calling his request ’somewhat premature,’ Circuit Judge Sandra McSorley denied the motion from defense attorney Robert Gershman but left the door open to consider his motion at a later time. As a court-appointed attorney

representing 16-year-old Nathan Walker, Gershman needs the judge’s approval to hire any outside experts in the case. Read more
