The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the reported drowning of a 66-year-old man. Deputies say the man was walking along the beach near Archibald Park with friends Friday evening when he decided to go for a swim. His friends were looking for him soon after when witnesses on the beach discovered a man floating face down on the shoreline, still wearing

his shoes. According to deputies, the man was taken to St. Petersburg General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not been released. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
