Ravens eye opportunity of adding John Beck?

The Baltimore Ravens have issues at quarterback as reported in that article by my friend Aaron Wilson. Troy Smith has a tonsil problem, Kyle Boller has a shoulder issue, and Joe Flacco is a rookie.

So it is no stretch to think the Ravens might cast a longing glance at John Beck as a possible option whether the news on Boller’s shoulder worsens.

Nothing is expected before the team plays its preseason finale but it is unlikely Baltimore would go into the regular-season with only one healthy quarterback. That raises the opportunity former Dolphins coach Cam Cameron, who likes Beck and helped draft Beck final season, would put his protege high on the list of

possible answers for a team with quarterback questions.

There are already whispers Beck might be in Baltimore’s sights although for now it doesn’t mean the team would offer something in trade. The Ravens would obviously like Beck whether he is cut by the Dolphins, but that may or may not happen.

So Baltimore may eventually consider offering something in trade for Beck considering he has obvious value to that team. Beck knows Cameron’s system and could be plugged in fairly quickly whether an emergency develops with the starter.

It doesn’t mean something is in the works right now. But that is a situation that bears monitoring.
