A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that 55 percent of Floridians oppose tax-supported school vouchers on their own.

But the support rises to 63 percent in favor of vouchers whether they are tied to a proposed requirement (to seem on November’s ballot) that 65 percent of schools’ budgets be spent in

classrooms.

Quinnipiac polled 1,625 Florida voters from May 27 to June 1 with a margin of error of +/- 2.4 percentage points. The poll plus found 61 percent of Floridians approve of the job Gov. Charlie Crist, former education commissioner, is doing.
