Pittsburgh Steelers free safety Ryan Clark visiting Miami Dolphins

Miami released Porter Friday and soon signed ex-Cardinals LB Karlos Dansby.) The Dolphins wasted little time lining up a possible replacement for free safety Gibril Wilson. The Steelers’ Ryan Clark arrived in Fort Lauderdale this evening to meet with the Dolphins tonight and Monday, according to his agent Joel Turner. (Streeter Lecka/Getty Images) Clark , known for his hard-hitting style for one of the NFL’s top defenses, agreed on Friday to meet with the Dolphins, the same day the team released Wilson, Turner said. While this is Clark’s first free-agent visit, Turner said seven teams has expressed interest in his client. Clark is eager to meet with Bill Parcells and Co., but is keeping his options open. “We purposely held off meeting other teams,” Turner said. “But we’re taking it a step at a time. It’s a process right now. “We’ll see how they like him and he likes them.” Clark, 30, made headlines in recent seasons for entirely different reasons. In 2008, the

5-foot-11, 205-pound Clark knocked out Patriots’ wide receiver Wes Welker and later in the playoffs did the same to Ravens’ running back Willis McGahee. Clark’s 2007 season ended after six games when he had his spleen and gall bladder removed when a game in the mile-high altitude air of Denver caused problems with Clark’s blood because he has the sickle-cell trait. In 2009, he started 15 games and made 110 solos tackles, three interceptions and eight pass break-ups. In the regular-season finale, Clark intercepted a pass from Dolphins’ back-up quarterback Tyler Thigpen, who also is represented by Turner, with 6:20 remaining during the Steelers’ 30-24 win in Miami. Clark is an eight-year veteran of three teams, Pittsburgh, Washington and the New York Giants. Given the huge contracts during a free-agency period without a salary cap, Clark could carry a hefty price tag. On Friday, the Giants made Arizona free safety Antrel Rolle the league’s highest-paid safety, inking him to a five-year deal for $37 million, including $15 million in guaranteed money. The Dolphins later agreed to terms with Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby on a five-year $43 million deal, with $22 million guaranteed, making him one of the league’s highest-paid linebackers.
