PIP Deal Back On

A deal to revive PIP is very much alive again. Remember attorney fee caps that threatened the deal?  They’re out.

Rep. Ellyn Bogdanoff went to Sen Bill Posey asking about capping attorneys fees, after a House committee had inserted into the caps in their bill. No deal, no PIP, he said.

“The message (the committee) gave me today was to give it another shot. Go back and try it again,” Bogdanoff said. “I did. And it didn’t work.”

So the House will run a strike-all tomorrow, stripping out attorney fee caps; reinserting the

language that narrowly defined when attorneys can get fee multipliers and changing the start date for PIP yet again. Bogdanoff couldn’t say exactly late Thursday when the new start date would be.
