Pinellas school board: Tough schools need more resources, bodies

Chronically disruptive students aren't the only problems that John Hopkins Middle and other struggling schools have. And several board members said today that despite tight budgets, they need to find ways to channel more resources to them. "We need to look at the staffing model we have in our tough schools," said Chairwoman Janet Clark, after relaying her experience

in a Hopkins classroom yesterday. Superintendent Julie Janssen offered what may be a partial solution – giving high-poverty middle and high schools a slice of the tens of millions of dollars the district gets each year from the federal Title I program. Read more here .
