Pinellas parents pushing for new fundamental high school

A new parents group that surfaced for the first time at this morning's school board meeting has one main goal: To get the district to create more fundamental high schools, and soon. The Fundamental Schools Advocacy Network (FAN) didn't publicly announce its plans today, but the literature it included in an information packet says it plain: Our Goal : To drive the Pinellas County School

District to open additional Fundamental High Schools for the 2010/2011 school year. The district currently has one fundamental high school, Osceola High. This is a serious effort. Pinellas County Commissioner Nancy Bostock is a member, and the group is saavy and organized enough to have already put together brochures, "fact sheets" and information packets.
