One dead, another injured in U.S. 19 crash

A driver of a gray Mustang died Monday afternoon when he crashed head-first into a red Volkswagon on a U.S. 19 access road approach the 2600 block of Drew Street.

The driver of the Volkswagon was injured in the 2 p.m. crash.

Chris Hopper, an employee at Kane’s Furniture, was external smoking a cigarette and spoted the crash.

"I was horrified," she said. "I’m still very, very rattled."

Hopper said the driver of the Volkswagon turned left onto the access road from Drew Street and was heading in the wrong direction

at a high rate of speed.

"He made a mistake and went the wrong way," she said. "He died considering of that mistake."

Tony Millett was on his way to Best Buy and saw the accident. He said the driver of the gray Mustang arised to be having a seizure or some sort of medical emergency. Millett said the driver jumped the median before smashing into the Volkswagon and a Hummer.
