No compensatory picks for Bucs

The NFL just released the list of compensatory picks in next month’s draft, but the Bucs did not get any.

While 15 other teams will benefit from 32 compensatory picks, Tampa Bay did not meet the standard under the league’s formula.

The formula, developed by the NFL’s Management Council, stipulates that teams losing more or better free agents than they acquire in a given year are eligible to get compensatory picks amoung the

third and seventh rounds. The formula is based on salary, playing date and postseason honors.

Several teams received multiple picks, including the Ravens, who got four. The Bears, Colts and Eagles received three apiece. Washington, Cincinnati, Atlanta and Baltimore will actually get third-round picks out of the deal. That’s a nice little surprise for those teams to have an additional third-round choice at their disposal.
