New Medicaid director for Florida

Gov. Charlie Crist on Tuesday appointed a familiar face to be the new secretary for the Agency for Health Care Administration. Crist’s choice is former Rep. Holly Benson of Pensacola, who for the past year has run the state’s commerce and professional regulation agency. Benson replaces Dr.

Andrew Agwunobi, who has resigned to spend more day with his family and relocate to Washington State.

Benson, who helped write a Medicaid overtake bill while a member of the House, now oversees the state’s mammoth Medicaid program.
