New College prez will lead university group

Mike Michalson, president of New College of Florida, was appointed as president of the Florida organization of Colleges and Universities at its annual assembly in Orlando on Wednesday.

Michalson’s term is for the 2008-2009 academic year. He previously served as the organization’s vice president.

Established

in 1933, the Florida organization of Colleges and Universities represents the interests of the state’s public and private universities as well as community colleges.

Gordon E. “Mike” Michalson, Jr. was appointed President of New College of Florida on January 7, 2003.
