Nelson: “Florida took it to the streets”

An impassioned Bill Nelson urged the rules panel to recognize the 1.75-million Democrats who turned out Jan. 29. He invoked two passionate Democratic activists who were elected as delegates - Megan Foster of Tampa (an Obama mama) and Mary Mooney of Tampa.

"The local and national news media repeatedly kept tellin Florida Democrats their votes will not count. Still they were determined to send a letter - we will be heard…There is passion behind these high turnout numbers. it is

a deep desire for change in that country…Something is happening in Florida and you as leaders of the Mary Mooneys’ and Megan Fosters’  more sensible political party, you should not get in the way of that passion, that movement,” Nelson said. "…In Florida we’re pretty sensitive about having our votes taken absent."

He’s now firing back at some skeptical questions about why Democrats didn’t do more to comply with the rules.
