NBA Draft - Miami Heat

The Heat owe a big thanks to all NBA teams who refused to trade up and take Miami’s #2 pick in the 2008 draft. Because of this, the Heat were able to land Michael “Be Easy” Beasley. With apologies to Pat Riley, I don’t care how much of a slacker you are off the court, if you can average a 20-10 for me each game, I want you on my team. In a way, the Heat lucked out getting the number two pick. While Derrick Rose would have been a

better fit currently, in the NBA you always go with the big man over the little guy. The Heat were able to add some depth to the guard position with Mario Chalmers, who you may remember as the guy who hit the game tying three at the end of regulation in the NCAA Championship game. Chalmers could turn out to be a perfect back court companion to Dwyane Wade. Chalmers can knock down the open shots created when Wade drives to the basket, and he is a solid perimeter defender.
