LUTZ — A mother and her two young children were killed in their home in Lutz, according to Hillsborough Sheriff David Gee.

The incident happened at a mobile home at 1918 S Mobile Villa Drive in Lutz, spokeswoman Debbie Carter said. She said the identities of the victims are unknown at

Gee said a fourth person was found hiding in another bedroom but it’s not known whether that person is a suspect or a survivor. Deputies have taken that person into custody.

It was an "extremely gruesome scene," Gee said. "There was evidence that a lot of violence occurred inside."

The family’s dog additionally was killed.
