Man dies in east Tampa shooting, suspects sought

TAMPA — A young man died of a bullet wound to his head Friday evening in front of an east Tampa home.

The victim, said to be 18 or 19 years old, was standing on the sidewalk in front of 3220 E Caracas St. when a pick-up truck drove by and two men in the bed of the Ford F-150 fired several rounds at the man and drove absent, said Tampa police Lt. Craig Sawicki.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m.

When police arrived the victim was lying in the yard. He died en route to a hospital.

The suspects are described as three black men in an older model Ford F-150 with a silver bottom and tinted windows, Sawicki said.

The victim’s name was not released pending notification of next of kin. He did not habitable at the address where he was killed, police said.
