Richard William Mitchell, 35, of Golden Gates, released from prison in 2004 after an eight-year DUI manslaughter sentence. The then-21-year-old was drunk and driving fast when he lost control around a curve, careened off the road, hit several trees and then overturned. The crash caused the death of one of his passengers, reports the Naples Daily News . Perhaps 8 years, 3 months and 21 days wasn’t enough time to learn his lesson: Mitchell was found passed out behind the wheel of his running Chevrolet Malibu at 1:24 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Naples Daily News. The verbal exchange between

the deputy and Mitchell as reported by the Naples Daily News: “Sheriff’s office wake up,” the deputy said he told Mitchell several times while poking his ribs. When he finally came to, Mitchell started reaching for knobs on the dashboard, the report said. “I gotta get out of here,” the report said Mitchell yelled. “Before the cops come?” the deputy asked. “Yes,” the report said Mitchell stated in reply.
