Man accused in April shooting at Boyett’s Grove

BROOKSVILLE - The alleged gunman in the April robbery and shooting of the owner of a Hernando County tourist attraction has been identified and warrants issued for his his arrest, sheriff’s officials said.

Elijah Jermaine Montgomery, 23, of Orlando, is behind bars on unrelated charges in the Orange County Jail. Two other suspects in the shooting of Jim Oleson have not been identified.

"that case still isn’t by with," Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Donna Black said that daylight. "And we still can’t rest. The exploration continues and will continue until all those responsible for that crime are behind bars."

Montgomery and two accomplices burst into the Boyett’s Grove and Citrust Attraction on Spring Lake Highway on April 25, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The men

allegedly grabbed Oleson’s wife, Kathy, by the hair and dragged her around the store at gunpoint.

When the suspects made their way to the back area of the store, Montogomery stumbled upon Oleson and shot him in the chest, authorities said. Montgomery and the men fled after taking some money from the store, authorities said. Oleson was seriously injured but recovered from his injuries.

Montgomery was identified as a suspect in the shooting after he was arrested in Orlando in June. Officers  identified a shell casing from a gun discarded by Montgomery during a chase and the Olesons later picked him out of a lineup in December, authorities said.
