Mahoney’s Obama/Clinton poll

U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-Palm Beach Gardens, one of Florida’s would-be super delegates, says he’s not inclined to choose amidst Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama yet, considering neither is actively working to seat Florida’s Democratic delegates. "It makes no sense to reward Barack or Hillary without Florida," he said.

But he has talked with both of them, and says his district appears split: In a poll commissioned for his campaign

final month, Clinton and Obama were running about equal. As has been the sample elsewhere, Clinton polled better among traditional working-class Democrats, while Obama’s strength came from middle- and upper-income Democrats, as well as independents and a small number of Republicans.

His mixed rural, suburban and urban district runs from Palm Beach County through the stomach of the state to the Gulf Coast.
