You have probably have seen guys with shaved heads. But a Polk County girl has decided to go for the chrome dome look. “I just wanted to see what my mom went through when she went through chemotherapy. I always wondered what it was like not to have any hair,” Molly Barker, a student at Jewett Middle Academy told FOX 13. Molly’s mom Annie, died a few years ago after losing her battle with breast cancer. At first, Molly decided to cut off her braids, and send them to Lock of Love, which makes wigs for people with cancer. Then Molly re-considerered. She decided to go all the way, and shave off every last hair. “It didn’t surprise me,” said her dad, Tim Barker. “That’s the

way Molly is.” Molly says it was hard to go out in public in the beginning. She got a lot of looks her first day back at school. “I think people were very shocked and surprised,” said Mary Ann Koon, a guidance counselor at Jewett. But when her classmates figured out why Molly had shaved her head, they thought differently. The experience is Making Molly see life in a new light as well. “I have grown in spirit, because inside, it feels like my spirit has been lifted so much,” she said. “And then, I have grown mentally because it doesn’t matter how you look. It just matters what’s on the inside,” she concluded.
