Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek is on his way to crushing his primary opponent Jeff Greene in Greene’s adopted home of Palm Beach County. Palm Beach County Democratic Chairman Mark Alan Siegel — who has a good record of predicting what will happen by the end of an election night based on sample precincts — said Meek is on his way to running up a margin of 2:1 in Palm Beach County. Siegel has been saying for some time that Meek, who he supported, would do well. But he was surprised by what he was seeing Tuesday night. “2:1 is really sweet. It’s

really sweet. I didn’t allow myself to think we would do that well,” Siegel said. He said the constant barrage of negative attacks directed at Meek by Greene ended up backfiring. “The Greene stuff got so bad and so abusive it lost credibility,” Siegel said. “He piled it on so much that it started to blow back on him.” Siegel said Greene, who is Jewish, made a hard push for votes in Jewish communities, but it ended up not working in those areas as well because of the negativity.
