A 7-month-old boy was killed Friday night when a tire tread on the vehicle he was riding in separated, causing the truck to crash. The Florida Highway Patrol says 42-year-old Michelin Jones was driving the Dodge Ram west on I-4 near the Hillsborough-Polk county line when the tread on the right rear tire began to separate. Witnesses say the vehicle began spinning off the road and then flipped over several times, landing upright in the median. Troopers say Jones’ infant son, Indria, was ejected from the vehicle despite his car seat restraints. According to

FHP, Jones’ other son was also in the truck at the time of the accident. Both boys were taken to Tampa General Hospital where Indria was pronounced dead. The condition of Jones’ other son is not known. FHP says Indria was riding in his car seat in the back seat of the truck, above the tire that separated. FHP determined that the cause of the crash was the tire separation, but the accident is still under investigation.
