Going AWOL? Don’t leave your brains behind

A motorist reported a Humvee sitting on the side of Interstate 95 in the Port Orange area. A Volusia County cop found the vehicle; it had run out of gas. Inside the Humvee sat Sean Aaron Johnson, 23, of New Orleans. The cop became suspicious because Johnson only had a military ID card and no driver’s license. He said he was transporting the vehicle to Fort Lauderdale but didn’t have a copy of his orders —

or a government fuel card to refuel the vehicle. Finally, Johnson was wearing civilian clothing, reports the Orlando Sentinel . The deputy couldn’t verify Johnson’s story — big surprise — so the Humvee was towed and Johnson eventually arrested. Turns out the Humvee was stolen. And Johnson, AWOL.
