Gas prices are edging up across the state. AAA Auto Club South said Sunday the average price of gasoline has climbed 25 cents a gallon in Florida since May 1. That’s the same increase as nationally. Nationally, AAA said the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was about $2.31. In Florida, that rate was about $2.33, up a dime from a week ago and up from $2.10 a month ago. “Getting a little outrageous once again,” driver Tasheika Copeland said. “I mean it’s not as bad as before but it’s getting there.” AAA says this is a normal trend this type of year because of summer travel and the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. > > Find the lowest gas prices in the Bay Area Experts say refineries are also finalizing the

switch from winter blend to summer blend, which costs more to produce. But some people say regardless of the reason, it’s already hurting them. “It’s slowing everything. People don’t take taxis and we’ve got to pay a lot for the cab and everything,” taxi driver William Joseph said. Experts predict rising gas prices throughout the summer, but not as high as last summer.
