Former Times education reporter to join Pinellas school district

The Pinellas school district has hired a former St. Petersburg Times education reporter to fill its newly created strategic communications coordinator job, Donna Winchester, a Times education reporter for six years, left the paper today to take the position, which pays $63,483 annually. She begins Nov. 30, but left the newspaper immediately after accepting the post to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. As strategic communications coordinator, Winchester will be charged with handling "special communication and marketing projects and activities" as assigned by the superintendent.
