Former President Bill Clinton stumps for Senator Ted Deutch

Jack Shifrel of Coconut Creek, an area leader of the Broward Democratic Party, attended the Ted Deutch fundraiser featuring former President Bill Clinton. Clinton devoted most of his remarks to health care, Shifrel said, and also touched on the decline of American politics in which partisanship is so strong Democrats and Republicans often don’t work together. Clinton, who is the U.N. special envoy on Haiti, discussed the situation in the earthquake-ravaged nation. The former president had just returned from a visit to Haiti. “He went into a great deal about the situation in Haiti and about how important it is to do what has to be done,” Shifrel said. Palm Beach County Democratic Chairman Mark Siegel said more than 300 people packed themselves into the St. Andrews Country Club in suburban Boca Raton where Clinton spoke for about 20 minutes. “I just remember how really brilliant and well informed and down to earth and in touch with reality Bill Clinton is,” he said.
