Jeb Bush isn't the only Floridian who's trying to export Sunshine State initiatives. Former Florida education commissioner John Winn, a close ally of Jeb Bush and a leading architect of the state's accountability reforms , has recently joined the board of directors of the National Council on Teacher Quality, according to the group's latest bulletin . Among other teacher-related efforts in Florida, Winn, a former

teacher, led the charge for a statewide performance pay plan . The council's board of director and advisory board is "composed of Democrats, Republicans and Independents, all of whom believe that the teaching profession is way overdue for significant reform in how we recruit, prepare, retain, and compensate teachers."
