Florida unemployment rises again

Jobless ranks in Florida swelled near one million in June, leaving the state with an unemployment rate in excess of ten percent. The Agency for Workforce Innovation said on Friday that 970,000 Floridians are out of work. The Unemployment rate in Florida is 10.6 percent, up .3 percent from May according to AWI. “The states current unemployment rate is 1.1

percentage points higher than the national unemployment rate of 9.5 percent,” the agency said in a statement. Hernando County reported the fifth highest unemployment of the state’s 67 counties. Right now 13.1 percent of Hernando workers are jobless.  Pasco County ranked eighth highest with 12.2 percent unemployment reported.
