Dolphins re-sign nose tackle Jason Ferguson, despite eight-game suspension

It looks like half a season of nose tackle Jason Ferguson is better than nothing at all. The team announced it has re-signed Ferguson for the 2010 season. Bill Parcells must really love this guy. After all, Ferguson is 35, coming off a major injury and will miss half the season because of his suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs. Ferguson has played for three teams under Parcells, beginning as a rookie in 1997 with Jets. Besides the Jets and Dolphins, Ferguson played two seasons

for Parcells in Dallas (2005-06). Ferguson, who was suspended for four games after testing positive for steroids in 1999, tore his quadriceps tendon Nov. 19 at Carolina. He underwent a surgery a few days later and faced an eight-month rehabilitation. Ferguson, who started nine games last year and played in all 16 in 2008, should be ready for training camp and is allowed to practice and play in pre-season games.
