After discovering copper coils had been stolen from five of their eight air conditioning units, Jim Redecker, the Director of Church Operations at Christ Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, went looking for clues, reports WZVN-TV News in Fort Myers. “The custodian and I were walking around back there and he picked up a postcard and a toolbox,” Redecker told WZVN News. They hit paydirt: They found a postcard with personal information and the home address of Matthew Winchester, reports WZVN News. “He was trying to get some free prescription drugs of some

kind,” Redecker told WZVN News. According to the police report, Winchester and his accomplish Richard Terry Evans took the copper coils to Garden Street Recycling, where they got $300 for the copper. Damage to the church’s air conditioning units was estimated at between $20,000 and $40,000, according to WZVN News. Winchester was charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property and criminal mischief to a church. Photo: Matthew Shaw Winchester / WZVN News More FloriDUH
