Concert to benefit victims of Dunbar Village attack

“But this one’s making a lot more sense.”

Angie Appling knows what it’s like to grow up in a neighborhood immersed in street violence. She knows what it’s like to say no to its lure.

She also knows what it is to be a victim of that world.

So when Appling heard that a woman living in the Dunbar Village public housing complex had been held at gunpoint while masked young men took turns raping her and assaulted her 12-year-old son, Appling knew she had to do something.

on a short list of like-minded musicians she helps promote, Appling organized a benefit concert Saturday to help the victims of the June 18 attack. Read more
