Coast Guard searches for plane, three passengers

CEDAR KEY, Fla. — The Coast Guard is searching for a single-engine plane that left the Cedar Key Airport about 12 a.m today on a flight scheduled to final 10 minutes, according to a Coast Guard report. There were three citizens aboard.

The aircraft originally departed from Plant City Airport, Fla. on Friday evening with five humans aboard,according to the Coast Guard. It landed at Cedar Key Airport Friday evening. At 2 a.m. today, the Federal Aviation Administration notified the Coast

Guard that the plane was lost.

The Coast Guard is searching the area from Rattlesnake Key to 37 miles south of Cedar Key. A Coast Guard helicopter and patrol boat, as well as aircraft from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Coast Guard Auxiliiary are all assisting in the search. The Coast Guard is withholding names of passengers pending notification of family members.
